The planning phase includes the precise calculation of sound insulation and sound attenuation, so that the noise control structure achieves the required level reduction. This covers the design of the silencer splitters and the selection of the acoustic panels.

The acoustic enclosure, measuring 15,300 x 7,760 x 5,050 mm, consists of two supply air silencers running lengthwise along the sides and one exhaust air silencer situated above the cooler. The entire cooling installation was mounted on a foundation using vibration isolators (spring elements). A steel structure was built around the installation, onto which the silencers were placed.

At the ends of the long sides there are additional acoustic panels that prevent sound passing through the silencer skin.

The silencers are designed as absorptive silencers with splitters made from a galvanised base frame in grade S235, filled with highly sound-absorbent, non-combustible mineral wool. This is additionally treated with a water repellent in accordance with DIN EN 1609.  Because the resulting medium velocities are calculated at approximately 7 m/s, a glass silk fabric was used as a covering. The pressure loss arising from the cross-sectional narrowing and the necessary deflections in the exhaust air silencer amounts to approximately 100 Pa in total. The total volume flow conveyed by the installation is 350,000 m³/h.

Several inspection and assembly shafts were included in the design, so that the installation can be serviced via two internal walkways.

The total execution time was eight weeks; the assembly of the acoustic enclosure was completed in two weeks.
